HMVO

Initiative

Falsified (fake) medicines have become a scourge, threatening public health on a global scale.

To confront the danger of falsified medicines entering the legal distribution chain, stakeholders in the supply chain have joined forces to develop and implement a trustworthy verification system that will enable health professionals to check the authenticity of medicines before they are dispensed to patients.

The implementation of such a system is necessary for Member States to comply with the EU’s legal requirements regarding falsified medicines.
